Article: Content Comes To Life With Norsat At The NAB Show 2019
Norsat recently participated in the NAB Show in Las Vegas, between April 8 – 11, 2019. The NAB Show is organized by the National Association of Broadcasters and covers satellite TV, radio, post production, news gathering, streaming, cable TV, connected media, cybersecurity and more. It is an important trade show for Norsat as it allows us to connect with over 100,000 attendees from 160+ countries in the broadcast industry.
This year, the show focused on powering what the industry creates and understanding how the world consumes media. It is the ultimate event for media, entertainment and technology professionals and organizations looking for new and innovative ways to create, manage, deliver and monetize content on any platform. The NAB Show served as a platform for Norsat to unveil ground-breaking technology, display innovative satcom solutions for the broadcast sector, and discuss game-changing trends.
The highlight of the show was Norsat’s 5G Interference Solution consisting of interference-mitigating LNBs and band pass filters. Some customers were curious about what was going on with 5G interference in the C-band and the outcome of the C-band alliance. The Norsat team had a chance to educate them and elaborate Norsat specs and solutions. Ramiro Reinoso, Director at SES, one of the companies that are selling the spectrum to 5G commented that our 3200 BPFs were smaller and lighter, and suitable for this new-age application. Other customers were interested in C-band and Ku-band microwave components as NAB is a broadcast show. Besides commercial customers, we had a few military customers that stopped by the booth as well, including FEMA who was interested in WAYFARER for news gathering and dissemination during disaster response, Peterson Air Force Base who are interest in Sigmalink for Geolocation and interference testing and GLOBETrekker 2.0 terminals for more portable communications compared to current 3.9m terminals. The team also spoke to the Department of Emergency Management, Panama City FL who is setting up an Emergency Operations Center and DISA who is interested in the GLOBETrekker for its built-in spectrum analyzer.
The 0.9m WAYFARER fly-away commercial satellite terminal was also present at the show. Visitors appreciated the fact that is was light, ultra-portable and could be deployed quickly. Few customers who had used Norsat’s fly-away terminals before, like the Journey Manpack and NewsLink, were delighted to see these next-gen terminals, and learn about Norsat’s diversification into commercial markets.
NAB 2019 was truly an engaging and enlightening trade show as the world’s inspiring and celebrated media thought leaders and communications companies assembled to share their stories, solutions, techniques and personal journeys. The Norsat team and attendees of the show got big picture insights and critical details on the latest trends impacting content from creation to consumption and distribution.
